Overview

Overview

Men's Wearhouse partnered with Optiversal to enrich its Google Merchant Feed and grow qualified visibility across Google Shopping and organic merchant listings. Rather than a one-time cleanup, the goal was a durable, always-current feed that keeps pace with a large, seasonal apparel catalog — and to prove the impact with a controlled experiment before scaling.

The Challenge

The Challenge

Even a strong catalog underperforms when its product data is thin. Attributes that are missing, generic, or out of date limit how often items qualify for granular Shopping filters and how well they surface in AI-driven search. Men's Wearhouse wanted to expand qualified visibility and improve efficiency — more of the right shoppers, at a lower cost per click — without the manual overhead of maintaining feed quality by hand across thousands of seasonal products.

What We Did

What We Did

Optiversal began with a controlled experiment using Google's own testing methodology, isolating the effect of enrichment on comparable inventory. With proof in hand, the program moved to ongoing feed management, launched March 2nd:

  • Continuous daily enrichment that catches deltas in the feed as products, pricing, and availability change

  • Seasonal enrichment that layers in timely language around key retail moments for added relevancy

  • Conversational attributes (FAQs, themes, occasions) rolling out next, to match how shoppers ask questions in AI search

Because freshness compounds, pages updated within 60 days are 1.9x more likely to appear in AI answers — so continuous enrichment does double duty across Shopping and generative search.

The Results

The Results

The controlled test moved every headline metric with statistical significance — more clicks, impressions, and conversions at a lower cost per click, and a wider set of products earning impressions.

In production, the trend compounded. Month over month, from February to March, impressions rose +67% and clicks +25%. Year over year in March, organic impressions grew +97% and organic clicks +79%, while paid impressions grew +909% and paid clicks +76%. The momentum carried into April, with organic impressions up +54% and organic clicks up +69% year over year at the mid-point of the month.

A note on reading the numbers: as impressions expanded this dramatically, the impression base grew faster than clicks, which naturally pulls click-through rate down even as total clicks climb. That's a signature of healthy top-of-funnel expansion — not weakening performance.

Key Findings

Key Findings

Enrichment delivered double-digit efficiency gains on healthy inventory without disproportionate cost growth. More products entered auctions and earned impressions, more shoppers clicked through, and cost per click fell — all at the same time. The controlled test established credibility; continuous enrichment turned it into a compounding, always-on advantage.

What’s Next

What’s Next

Continue continuous and seasonal enrichment, launch conversational attributes to strengthen presence in AI search, and expand coverage into additional seasonal moments across the catalog.

Methodology: Controlled A/B test using Google's FeedX methodology. Ongoing enrichment live since March 2nd. Metrics from Google Search Console and Google Ads.
